CHP Offers Free Driving Classes For Teens And Seniors

OAKHURST – As winter weather moves in and presents more challenging and dangerous driving conditions, the Oakhurst Area CHP Office encourages you to start the New Year right by making your driving safety a priority.

Saturday, Jan. 26, is Safety Saturday at the Oakhurst office, with Officer Luis Lugo hosting two important classes for new drivers and for senior citizens.

SENIOR DRIVING – The Age Well, Drive Smart class, beginning at 10 a.m., is for adults who wish to continue driving with caution as they age. The class is aimed at minimizing the effects that aging can have on our driving.

TEEN DRIVING – The Start Smart class, beginning at 1 p.m., is for teenagers just learning to drive, or any teen who wants to improve their driving skills. Parents are encouraged to attend this class with their kids.

Both classes will last approximately two hours.

Certificates will be mailed to the attendees upon completion of the class, and participants are encouraged to check with their insurance carriers as they may be able to get lower rates on their vehicle insurance.

CHP Oakhurst will continue to provide these classes to the public at no cost, and they hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to make our community safer.
