Central Sierra Authors Faire Update

Plans for the Central Sierra Authors Faire are proceeding well as 17 authors and other industry professionals have already signed up to participate in the event that will take place on Sat., Oct. 12, 2019.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Oakhurst Branch Library near the entrance to the Oakhurst Community Park. That day, the Oakhurst community will also be celebrating the second day of its annual Fall Festival in the park.

Monica McClanahan, an organizer of the Authors Faire, said there is still space available and time for authors to register for the event which they can do by visiting www.centralsierraauthorsfaire.com.

The event also includes author book signings, video-taped author interviews, speaking with coaches and sponsored raffle prizes.

McClanahan said a table and chairs will be available to authors to display their books and other products; however, they are encouraged to bring their own pop-ups.

A $10 fee to rent space at the event includes a table, chair, tablecloth, name tag and basic signage.

Dale Rushing, Oakhurst Library branch manager, said she is “excited that the public will be able to rub shoulders with local authors and, hopefully, buy their books. Now that the holidays are approaching, this would be a great time to buy books for gift giving.”

“I am also excited that our event will be able to attract so many more people to meet local authors and discover what they have to offer as they pass through our event on their way to the Fall Festival in the park,” she added.

Some genres represented by authors include young adult fantasy, poetry, children’s fiction, science fiction/fantasy, historical fiction and suspense/thrillers.

Non-fiction themes include art, photography, memoirs, biography and inspirational and self-help.

The Authors Faire, which is free to the public, is co-sponsored by the Oakhurst Branch Library and the Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library.
