Celebration of Life for William (Billy) James Whitla

William James Whitla (Billy) passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 13, 2021, at the age of 55. He was born January 21, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, to parents William R. and Barbara L. (nee Hummel) Whitla.

He is survived by his son Chaz M. Whitla, sister Brenda M. Whitla-Pinto, brother-in-law Clyde J. Pinto, and niece Carmen F. Pinto. He also leaves behind extended family and friends in California including Melissa Miller, the Salstrand Family; in Louisiana, Sam, Emmett and Ray Hummel; in Nevada, the Panetti Family and Susannah Kosmos. William was admired for his keen intelligence, quick wit, gift of gab, and infectious laugh. He had many talents including carpentry, manicuring, acting, and artwork.

He ran the family business — a feed store — from a young age and later went on to manage a nail salon. William had two businesses of his own, a baseball card shop in Southern California, and he was also a co-owner of a handyman service in Oakhurst, California.

Most of all, William was a devoted father, stay-at-home dad and was most proud of raising his son, Chaz. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

On Wednesday, December 29, 2021, a rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. with a funeral mass at 10 a.m.

Services will be held at Our Lady of the Sierra Catholic Church in Oakhurst, CA.
