Eastern Madera County is home to waterfalls, giant trees and culinary royalty. In honor of California Restaurant Month, happening throughout January, SNO presents a special series spotlighting each participating restaurant.
OAKHURST – When the millions of visitors to Yosemite National Park subside for the winter, locals take a deep breath of the crisp mountain air and enjoy having the town back to themselves.
Insiders know one local hot spot that has delicious food, live entertainment, a roaring open fireplace, and more options for whiskey than you can count. The Oakhurst Grill and Whiskey 41 Lounge located at the Best Western Plus, Yosemite Gateway Inn is a gold nugget in the Sierra Nevada that is well-loved by national park visitors — and locals alike.
To celebrate California Restaurant Month, this January Oakhurst Grill and Whiskey 41 Lounge will serve their most famous soup, every day of the week. That’s right, enjoy steak and mushroom soup anytime and see why “the regulars” can’t get enough of this dish. It’s the perfect way to warm up on a chilly day — a bowl of goodness that will fill you with hearty umami flavor and leave you ready to take on the season.
Once you’ve had your fill of delicious soup, stick around to taste of one of the over 90 whiskeys available in the lounge. Top on our staff’s list is the incredibly smooth bourbon from Oakhurst Spirits Distillery. This American-style whiskey is made from grain grown in the Central Valley — and the mash from the production of the spirits is sent back to the farmers for food for their animals. This connection between the growers and the makers is an incredible example of what makes the great state of California so unique.
And don’t miss the comedy series at Whiskey 41 Lounge. On Friday, January 24, see funnyman Jon Huck, plus three more acts. Live music from “What Comes Next ” will have you dancing all night.
