Cal Fire To Conduct Training Burn In Greeley Hill

MARIPOSA COUNTY — The Cal Fire Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit (MMU) will conduct a vegetation management training burn on Monday, June 24 near Converse Road and Valley Vista Lane in Greeley Hill.

The training will consist of burning annual grass, oak woodland and sparse brush, totaling about 90 acres and will take place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Smoke may be visible locally.

The purpose of the burn is to train firefighting personnel in firing strategies and tactics. The management fire will also be used to reduced noxious weeds and reduce fuel loading and ladder fuels and promote native grasses.
