OAKHURST — Are you an author or do you want to be an author? Do you love to read? The Oakhurst Library will be hosting their 3rd annual Authors’ Faire on Saturday, Sept. 24. The event has become so popular with our mountain communities, say organizers, the library decided to move it to a bigger venue after more than 200 people attended in 2015.
This year’s event will be held at the Oakhurst Community Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library has invited Central Sierra writers, publishers, editors, illustrators and various writing groups to come to attend.
The general public is invited to meet the authors, buy signed copies of their books, and learn about writing and today’s publishing industry. If you’ve got a story in mind, says volunteer coordinator Monica McClanahan, this is an opportunity to talk to publishing professionals about story ideas.
“If you love to read, come and meet these Central Valley writers. They’ll be happy to tell you about their newest books and sign one of them for you,” Monica promises.

“We have arranged with several literary professionals to make presentations about marketing yourself and your books. We are also going to videotape author interviews and post them on our event’s new website,” Monica adds. “A number of local businesses have donated raffle prizes and the drawings will start at the intermission scheduled for noon. The library has arranged for food to be available so guests can stay for lunch.”
