MARIPOSA — The Mariposa County Arts Council presents another fine weekend of concerts this Friday and Saturday evenings, featuring the Blue Skies Trio with vocalist Amy Duke on Friday, June 21 and the California reggae jam staple Green Machine on Saturday, June 22.
Inspired by the classic piano-bass-drum trios and small Jazz combos of the 40s to present day, the seasoned, world class musicians that make up the Blue Skies Trio are skilled at playing both smooth and high energy Jazz music — a true American art form. Singing with the trio is guest vocalist Amy Duke, who has wowed attendees of Music on the Green in previous years.
Green Machine has become a staple of Music on the Green, bringing authentic and original Reggae music and attitude to the Art Park stage for 15 years now. Recognized throughout California as the real deal, they are veterans of festivals and concert stages from the central valley to the foothills and over to the coast, providing a feast for the ears with their trance-like Reggae jam sound.
This year the group will showcase new material from their most recent recorded release, as well as the popular genre originals that fervent fans have come to know and love.
A complete schedule of the talent performing throughout this summer season can be found at Mariposa County Arts Council.
All performances begin at 7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Highway 140 between 4th and 5th Streets in historic downtown Mariposa. There is free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access. The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged and appreciated.
The Mariposa County Arts Council Inc. is an incorporated not-for-profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County.
