OAKHURST – The Yosemite High School Badger Swim Team has had three meets in less than ten days, with another coming up at home against Firebaugh on Thursday, Apr. 10.
Here’s how they all shook out, with special thanks to Dale Hartesveldt for the photographs of the Sunnyside Sprint Meet.
YHS participated in a Sprint Meet at Sunnyside on Saturday, Mar. 29, then took on Dos Palos at home Thursday, Apr. 3, followed by the Clovis West Invitational for Diving/Swimming on Friday and Saturday, Apr. 4-5.
The Dos Palos meet was favorable in terms of personal bests for a few Badger swimmers, and the Clovis West Invitational gave the young athletes plenty of top notch competition, according to Varsity swim coach Brandon Brokaw.
“There were almost 1,400 swimmers there,” said Brokaw of the meet in Clovis the first weekend in April. “Top 16 swimmers score in each event. A couple of athletes that stood out for us were sophomore Rose Curley, who won the JV Butterfly. Phillip Kudela, a junior, made top 16 in both of his individual events, and first-year diver Joel Bradshaw, a freshman, made the final round and scored in the top 16 in his first try at the Varsity Championship 11-dive format.”
