OAKHURST — With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City.
The Golden Chain Theatre presents this classic tale of a child determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage, run by the cruel and embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of New York City.
The show opens on Friday, Mar. 2 and runs through Sunday, Mar. 25.
Emma Prescott plays Annie and the part of Sandy is played by Airdale Jack, owned by Madera County District 5 Supervisor Tom Wheeler. Oliver (Daddy) Warbucks is played by George Rich, and his character’s secretary Grace Farrell is played by Miranda Simonich. Miss Aggie Hannigan is portrayed by Jennifer Janine, whose character’s brother Rooster Hannigan is played by Chase Hagerman. Lyric Gianna takes on the role of girlfriend Lily St. Regis.
Friday and Saturday night performances start at 7 p.m. while Sunday matinee curtains go up at 2 p.m. Rated G and Directed by James Mierkey.
