4th Annual Sierra Lions Club Trivia Night

OAKHURST – Sierra Lions Club of Oakhurst invites the community to an evening of fun and frolic at their fourth annual “If I Only Had a Brain” Trivia Night on Saturday, Mar. 16  at 5 p.m. at Sierra Senior Center. Sharpen those skills — you could take home a trophy.

In addition to trivia, participants will be treated to the spectacle of a unique live auction and raffle. Refreshments will be for sale, and your ticket includes a delicious dinner of homemade lasagna, salad, rolls, dessert, a bottle of water and coffee.

Organizers plan on eight trivia subjects with ten questions each. Blank answer sheets for each subject will be placed on the table and each table will have one minute to come up with an answer for each question and write it on the answer sheet. At the end of each subject period, table runners will pick up the sheets and deliver to the three judges at the front of the room.

This year’s judges are scheduled to be Laura Hayth, John Reed and Leslie Stevens. Madera County District 5 Supervisor Tom Wheeler is the scheduled emcee for the evening.

There will be a break in the middle of the event for the auction and raffle prizes. At the end of the night the annual Roving Trophy will be awarded to the table that answers the most questions correctly. Groups who have won the trophy in past years include the Positive Living Center and Sierra News Online.

The Lions Club is selling tables of eight to businesses and organizations for $150. Individuals may attend for $20 per person.

Funds raised will be used to continue to support Sierra Lions Club work including:

  • Scholarships for high school students
  • Eyeglasses and hearing aids for low income recipients
  • American flags to first graders in five schools for a total of about 270 flags each year
  • Supporting Lions Camp Pacifica located on Highway 49 between Oakhurst and Mariposa
  • Supporting the Lions Canines for Independence Program (companion dogs)
  • Co-sponsor of LEO Club for High School Students.

Please call Stella Pizelo at 559 683-6987 for information and or a table for your business and friends.

Sierra Senior Center is located at 49111 Cinder Lane in Oakhurst , behind the Community Center.
