Yosemite District Student Receives Sunrise Rotary Award

OAKHURST – A student enrolled last year at Campbell Community Day High School was designated Student of the Month by the Sierra Sunrise Rotary Club, due to his outstanding achievement during the course of the 1st semester of the 2012-13 year.

Instructor Brandon Brokaw says Joe De Paz studied at alternative site Campbell last semester.

“He did the work to get himself back on track to graduate,” reports Brokaw. “During his time at Campbell, he did the semester’s work and a lot more, to make up for what he was behind on.”The Sierra Sunrise Rotary has been giving Student of the Month awards for approximately 15 years, according to Club President Dale Miller.

“The students honored come from elementary through high school and the awards cover all of the schools in Eastern Madera County,” says Miller. Recipients are given a certificate and a $50 gift card.

Having completed his semester at Campbell, De Paz has returned to Yosemite High School for the remainder of his junior year.
