Vehicle Starts Vegetation Fire On Road 406

O’NEALS – Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire on Road 406 this afternoon, reportedly caused by a vehicle igniting the dry grass.

At about 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 8, engines, water tenders, dozers, and air tanker and helicopter were dispatched to the location, about one mile west of Highway 41, for what was reported by the first engine on scene as being about one-half acre.

Firefighters had the fire contained by 5:55 p.m.

Road 406 is about one mile south of Road 200 (North Fork Road).

Motorists should use caution and be aware of emergency vehicles in the area as they do mopup work on the fire.
