Update On Flooding And Evac Advisories In The Foothills

MADERA COUNTY — The Cedar Valley area remains impacted by rains, says the Madera County Sheriff’s Office. An evacuation advisory is still in effect for Lakeside Drive south of the Fire Station, Deer Run Trail Road, Lazy Oak Drive, and Cedar Place. Residents in these areas should be prepared to evacuate immediately if conditions change.

The east side of Church Street and the west side of the Bass Lake Mobile Home Park in North Fork remain under mandatory evacuation orders.

More rain is predicted for Thursday, with heavy rain forecast for Thursday night through Friday morning. With the large amount of water already present in the waterways, more flooding can be anticipated in certain areas.

In prior years of heavy rainfall there has been flooding along the Berenda slough as well as along the San Joaquin River and other local waterways.

If you live in an area near a waterway, please remain vigilant for rising water and be prepared to evacuate immediately should conditions become dangerous.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office issues emergency alerts via MCAlert, a phone based emergency notification system. There is no cost to register for this service (cellular phone charges may be incurred).
