OAKHURST – A truck owned by Lister Rents of Oakhurst was struck by a Mercedes this afternoon while turning onto Highway 41.
Jason Lister, 32, of Oakhurst, driving a Lister Rents truck, had stopped at the stop sign on Victoria Lane at Highway 41. He then pulled out onto the highway, making a left-hand turn to head north into town.Nick Covert, 44, of Coarsegold, was southbound on Highway 41, and for unknown reasons, drove into the side of Lister’s trailer, which had not cleared the southbound lane.
Lister said he saw the car at the bottom of the hill before pulling out, and having turned out of Victoria Lane countless times, knew that he had plenty of time to make the turn. He said that Covert must have picked up speed in order to have reached his vehicle so quickly.
Covert suffered minor injuries in the accident, and his Mercedes was towed by Techniques Towing. Lister was uninjured, and Highway 41 was blocked for a short time while the scene was cleared.
