Tour The Sierra Vista Scenic Byway’s Secret Vistas

SIERRA NATIONAL FOREST — Everyone is invited to join in a tour of the best kept secret vistas of the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway.

Participants will meet on Saturday, July 29, at 9 a.m. at The Pines parking lot at Bass Lake and carpool up to the Jackass Lake trail head.

Retired USFS back country ranger Michael Olwyler will lead a short, uphill hike to two of the most spectacular view sites in the mountains. He will help identify the geography of the Sierra from there.

You will see meadows and mountain peaks as far away as Kings Canyon from the first stop/ hike. Next, Michael will lead everyone on another short, semi-strenuous hike to a spot where participants will get a fantastic view of the San Joaquin River Basin.

The second spot is optional, but organizers hope you will join them for both.

This tour will involve short, but somewhat strenuous hiking. Bring food and water, and binoculars if you have them.
