OAKHURST – Community members looking for a fun night out to support charitable causes will want to attend the 22nd Annual Oakhurst Sierra Sunrise Rotary Cajun-Creole Fest on Saturday, Apr. 1. The fun begins at 6 p.m. and it all takes place at the Oakhurst Community Center.

Guests can look forward to “All-U-Can-Eat Shrimp, Ribs, Dirty Rice, Maque Choux Corn and  homemade Bread Pudding.” Cajun Fest features a no-host bar with a variety of beverages and,  for the second year in a row, the club will serve a popular green-colored mixed drink affectionately known as Swamp Water. Be on the lookout for outstanding raffle prizes and a live auction.

Tickets to the Cajun-Creole Fest are $45 per person and are available by calling (559) 283-4731. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the evening of the event. Tables of eight or 10 can be reserved for a reduced per-person price of $40.

Oakhurst Sierra Sunrise Rotary Club has been in operation for 30 years and currently has 35 members. The Cajun-Creole Fest is one of the nonprofit organization’s largest annual fundraisers.

Funds raised at Sunrise Rotary events are used for high school scholarships, elementary school “Student of the Month” awards, contributions to the Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst, Manna House, the Oakhurst Community Center and many other local and international projects.

The Oakhurst Sierra Sunrise Rotary Club welcomes new members and meets every Tuesday at Pop’s Restaurant in Oakhurst at 7 a.m. For more information, please contact president John Honnette at (559) 859-7800.
