Man Taken Into Custody Is Not FBI’s Suspect

COARSEGOLD – A man taken into custody after being pulled over by a CHP officer in Yosemite Lakes Park earlier today is not Jason Derek Brown, according to the CHP.

The man was pulled over when his vehicle was spotted in the area, and matched the description of a car that was reportedly being driven by Brown, who is wanted for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution, First Degree Murder and Armed Robbery.

When the man refused to provide information as to his identity after being contacted by the officer in YLP, he was taken to Madera County Department of Corrections for identification by an FBI agent. He was cited for being an unlicensed driver, having no insurance and using an out-of-state plate to avoid paying California registration fees. He was cited and released from custody.

Jason Derek BrownAs for Jason Derek Brown, he allegedly shot and killed an armored car guard outside a movie theater in Phoenix, AZ, in November of 2004, and then fled with the money.

Brown has ties to California, Arizona, and Utah. In the past, he has traveled to France and Mexico. Additionally, he may be in the possession of a Glock 9mm and a .45 caliber handgun.
