Free Chipping For Fish Camp Residents

FISH CAMP – The Mariposa County Fire Safe Council is again offering free chipping of brush, limbs and small trees that have been cleared from properties by residents clearing defensive space around their homes.

Chipping dates will be Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Wednesday, Sept. 7.

You must contact the Fish Camp Volunteer Fire Association at donnatyosemite@sti.net to be put on the list for this free service. Please include your name, street address, phone number and email address.

If you pile your large hazardous debris along a route of ingress/ingress as described below, the Fire Safe Council will chip your piled hazardous debris.

No piles of trash, cones or needles will be disposed of; only chippable branches, limbs, brush and small trees with butts no larger than five inches. The length of the branches can be up to 16 feet.

Old dried brush or trees with dirt-encrusted roots cannot be chipped.

To prepare your materials for chipping, please follow these instructions:

  • All cut parts of the limbs must be faced out (see picture above). All piles must be within 10 feet of the roadway
  • Do not pile along a County Maintained Road
  • Piles must be no higher than 4 feet or wider than 5 feet, and must be free of any trash, metal, needles or cones, with no branches larger than 5 inches in diameter
  • If piles are not piled correctly, the Fire Safe Council cannot chip your piles

You do not have to qualify for free chipping, as it is free to all Mariposa County residents. Call the Mariposa County Fire Safe Council at 209-966-7700 or visit www.mariposafiresafe.net

The Mariposa County Fire Safe Council is a drug free workplace and an equal opportunity employer, and is a non-profit organization. Your tax deductible contribution is greatly appreciated.
