DUI Arrest After Car Rolls Into Power Pole

COARSEGOLD — A woman was arrested for suspicion of DUI last night in Yosemite Lakes Park after she was injured while trying to push her disabled car.

Just before 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, Rebekah Jane Flores Biccum, 33, of Fresno, was headed up Lilley Mountain Drive in a 1996 Toyota Avalon when she ran out of gas, according to CHP.

Biccum reportedly got out of the car and tried to push it, however the car rolled back and she was caught in the door and dragged about 20 feet before the car rolled back into a power pole, ripping loose the guy wire and knocking out power to some YLP residents.

It is not known whether the car ran over the woman, as she was not able to answer many questions due to the pain from her injuries, but the initial report to 911 was of a woman “laying in the middle of the roadway.”

She was judged to be under the influence by CHP at the scene, and was transported by ground ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. She was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI, and released to the custody of the hospital, says CHP.

The accident is under investigation.
