CHP Offers Safe Driving Class For Seniors

MOUNTAIN AREA — There are still a few spots left for Thursday’s Age Well-Drive Smart class for seniors, hosted by the Oakhurst Area Office of the California Highway Patrol on Mar. 31, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Please note that the CHP Office will be closed on that date due to the State holiday, but Officer Kaci Lutz will still be conducting the class in the conference room, next to the front office at 40500 Redbud Drive.

CHP implemented the Age Well, Drive Smart program to assist older drivers and their families with the tools they need to remain safe on the road, and it is offered free of charge.

At times, driving appears to be relatively easy, but in fact it is a complex skill. The ability to drive safely is affected by changes in our physical and mental conditions. Many of these changes take place as we get older, though in different ways and at different times.

The class is a great way for seniors to educate themselves, evaluate their driving abilities, and improve their driving skills.

If you and/or a family member would like to attend a free Age Well, Drive Smart class, please contact your local CHP Public Information Officer, Kaci Lutz, at 559-658-6611.

“This is a fun, interactive and educational program to remind us how to keep driving longer while increasing our awareness and safety on the roadways,” says Lutz, whose classes are always fun and entertaining, while imparting valuable information.

Contact Officer Lutz now to reserve your seat.
