Celebrate America Concert

OAKHURST – The community is invited to attend a free musical extravaganza, as the Oakhurst Community Band presents their “Celebrate America Concert,” with music commemorating Yosemite National Park.

The program takes place on Sunday, June 29, at Mountain Christian Center, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Featured numbers are set to include Yosemite Autumn, America the Beautiful, Star Spangled Banner, To Heal a Nation, Fourth of July, Fan Fare for the Common Man, National Emblem March, and a recognition of America’s veterans with the “Armed Forces Medley.”

The Oakhurst Community Band is a nonprofit organization supported by donations from corporate sponsors, community service groups, and other music lovers. A Board of Directors made up of band members meets throughout the year to make decisions regarding expenditures and concert arrangements.

Concerts are traditionally performed three times each year with rehearsals held in the band room at Yosemite High School. The Oakhurst Community Concert Band rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. during the school year.

The band members are all volunteer, ranging in age from teens to seniors. Band members often volunteer time to mentor school students throughout the mountain communities, and also play with the high school band for home football games and graduation ceremonies.
