String Of Accidents On Highway 41

MADERA COUNTY – Three separate accidents on Highway 41 caused traffic backups and kept first responders busy this afternoon. The first call came in at 1:30 p.m. that a car had crashed into a tree just north of the Cedar Valley turnoff. Squad 18 from Cedar Valley Volunteer Fire Department was first on the scene.

Rim Fire Now Over 200,000 Acres

TUOLUMNE COUNTY – Some residents are being allowed to return home near the 201,894 acre Rim Fire. The fire now covers some 315 square miles and is 32% contained. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday lifted the evacuation advisory for Tuolumne City, Soulsbyville and Willow Springs.

Rim Fire Now 30% Contained

TUOLUMNE COUNTY – As the Rim Fire scorches 192,737 acres in Tuolumne and Mariposa Counties and into western boundary of Yosemite National Park, firefighters have now completed line around 30% of the fire. TUOLUMNE COUNTY – The Rim Fire continued its unrelenting march through the Stanislaus National Forest and Yosemite National Park today, growing to 187,466 acres and resisting firefighters’ efforts to gain more than 23% containment. The fire has destroyed 111 structures to date.
