Candidates Ready To Lauch Honorary Mayor Campaigns

OAKHURST – The official candidate list has been finalized for Honorary Mayor of Oakhurst, and soon the intense competition will get underway, giving residents a chance to donate to the cause of their choice, and enjoy the events put on by those racing to the July finish line.

As of 5 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 12, these five candidates have thrown their hats into the ring to compete for the title, and raise money for their favorite charities:

Kurtis Foster – Boys & Girls Club

Dale Miller – Oakhurst Community Center

Theresa Wilson – Mountain Area Ski School

Brian Gearhart – Eastern Madera County SPCA

Steve Montalto – Children’s Museum of the Sierra

The official kick-off event for candidates to begin their campaigns will be Wednesday, Apr. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Silver Creek Shopping Center in Oakhurst.

“This year we are co-sponsoring a huge multi-business open house and the public is invited to come out and support their favorite 2013 Honorary Mayoral Candidates as they kick off their campaigns,” said Darin J. Soukup, Executive Director of the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce.

The open house will feature food by Supernaw’s BBQ and a no-host bar provided by the Chamber. There will also be a raffle for a 5 day/4 night cruise and door prizes.

Everyone is invited to stop in at these local businesses for their open house events during the big celebration:

47th Place Carpet One, Supernaw’s BBQ, Synergy Massage by Bryce, Oakhurst Paints, Oakhurst Fruit & Nuts Co., and The Studio & Joelle Leder Photography Studio.
