Yosemite Opening Glacier Point Road

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK–Yosemite National Park (YNP) officials have announced that Glacier Point Road will be open starting Saturday, July 1st. According to park officials, the road will be open on weekends only starting July 1st.

The road will be open:

-July 1 from 6 am through July 4th at 10 pm

-July 8 from 6 am through July 9th at 10 pm

Glacier Point Road will open seven days per week, 24 hours per day, starting July 15th at 6 am. Expect 30-minute delays, Monday through Friday, 6 am to 9 pm.

For updates, check the YNP website here.

Parking at Glacier Point and throughout the park is limited. Arrive early in the morning to avoid long delays and full parking lots.

Services may be limited. Vault toilets will be available this weekend. Drinking water may not be available this weekend: be prepared with plenty of water.

Sections of trails in the Glacier Point Road area will still be wet and muddy, with snow persisting at the higher elevations (e.g., Ostrander Lake).

If you want to go backpacking, wilderness permits are now available one week in advance (not the day before, as in the past). Visit https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/wpres.htm for more information, or go to https://www.recreation.gov/permits/445859 to make a reservation.

Tioga Road (continuation of Highway 120 through the park) will not be open for the Independence Day holiday.
