Winter Weather Advisory For Central Sierra

MOUNTAIN AREA — A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for the Sierra Nevada above 7,000 feet from Yosemite to Kings Canyon National Park. This is expected to last from Saturday night to Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Six to twelve inches of snowfall are expected in the advisory area. Gusty winds up to 45 miles per hour will also accompany this system, especially along the crest of the Sierra.

Travelers driving to these locations are reminded of road chain restrictions and possible travel delays.

In the foothills around Oakhurst, showers are projected after 4 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, with a chance of precipitation at 80 percent, totaling about one-quarter to one-half inch of rain. Showers continue on Sunday and may be heavy at times.
