Winter Storm Warning for Central Sierra

Nov 6, 2020 – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Central Sierra.

The warning will take effect at 1pm this afternoon and will remain until 10pm Sunday above 4000 foot elevation.

Heavy snow is expected in the higher elevations with an accumulation of 12 to 15 inches above 7000 feet and 6 to 12 inches between the elevations of 4000 and 7000 feet.

Wind gusts as high as 55 mph are expected on exposed ridge tops and near the crest.

Conditions could be very difficult due to snow covered roads and low visibilities. Tire chains may be required in certain areas.

Campers and hikers should prepare for wintry conditions.
