Update On El Portal Fire Evacuations

YOSEMITE – The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that residents of Old El Portal will be able to begin re-entering their homes at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29. Residents will need to check in at the Community Hall prior to returning to their homes.

Residents in the Foresta area are still under an active evacuation order.

Also beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Foresta Road and Crane Creek at Highway 140 will open to residents only.

Highway 120 (Big Oak Flat Road) remains closed from Crane Flat to Highway 140.

Yosemite National Park remains open. All entrance gates leading into and out of Yosemite National Park are open, and Tioga Pass Road is open, along with Highways 140 and 41.

The Red Cross has opened a resource center at the New Life Christian Church, 5089 Cole Road in Mariposa. They are no longer located at the Tenaya Lodge in Fish Camp.
