MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES–The National Weather Service Hanford Office is predicting a wet weekend and start to next week for our communities. Their forecast indicates precipitation will begin late tonight and spread across the region by early Saturday morning. Light rainfall below 6,000 feet and moderate snowfall above 6,000 feet is projected to fall through the day Saturday and Sunday.
As we head into Sunday, a second system is forecast to impact the region. This system is expected to have higher snow levels around 7,000 feet with more intense rainfall and snowfall rates. The peak of the rain and snow event is currently forecast to occur on Monday morning.
Once both systems have passed through, the Sierra Nevada has the potential to see a few feet of new snow.
