OAKHURST — Soroptimist International of The Sierras recently held their 55th Board Installation ceremony. Soroptimist is known for five high school scholarships:
- Dream Programs: “Dream It – Be It,” a one day conference for high school girls
- 8th grade awards for citizenship
- Women Helping Women and Women of Distinction awards
- Live Your Dream grants for women
- Their donations to International Goodwill & Understanding.
The event was held at Idle Hour Winery & Kitchen and enjoyed by many guests including Soroptimist District 3 Director, Joelle Leder-Rule. The new board will continue to advance the club’s mission statement of educating and empowering women and girls in the mountain community.
There are two main fundraising events during the year. There is a chili cookoff in October and a Women’s Awards Spring Tea in May.
The Oakhurst community and surrounding area businesses generously support these fundraising efforts which enables Soroptimist to continue serving the women and girls in the mountain community.
