OAKHURST — Local internet service provider Sierra Tel is offering mountain area students from low-income households free internet service in order to continue their studies online in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak and ongoing school closures.
“In light of the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sierra Tel has created a program to assist households with low-income students enrolled in a public school” in Sierra Tel’s service territory, the company announced.
An application for the program is available on Yosemite Unified School District’s website.
“The program is effective immediately and available to all qualifying households and will continue for at least the next 60 days, ending June 30, 2020,” Sierra Tel officials explain.
Additional program information and eligibility requirements are detailed in the application.
