Sheriff’s Office Searching For Suspect In Sullivan Tire Break-In

OAKHURST – The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect (or suspects) in connection with a break-in at Sullivan’s Tire Pros on Christmas Day.

At about 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 25, deputies responded to an alarm call on the north end of the Enterprise Center on Highway 49 in Oakhurst.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the front door had been smashed in with a rock and items had been stolen from inside the store.

A thorough search by deputies and K9 Tonka failed to locate any suspects.

According to owner Mike Sullivan, the thief had carried the safe outside to try and put it in the car and make off with it, but the perpetrator was apparently scared off and left without it. Sullivan says they do not keep cash inside the business when it’s closed.

Surveillance video from a nearby business captured images of the suspect leaving the scene in a newer model (2014 or newer) Ford Mustang, red in color with a black soft convertible top.

The California license plate was not legible, but may have the last three numbers of 252.

Sullivan says the cost to replace the door may be greater than the value of what the thief managed to get away with.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for the suspect and the vehicle. Anyone with information regarding this case or where the suspect/ vehicle can be located is asked to contact the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770.
