Senator Borgeas Announces Central California Animal Disaster Team as Nonprofit of the Year

FRESNO – Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) is proud to recognize the Central California Animal Disaster Team (CCADT) as the Nonprofit of the Year for the 8th Senate District. Each year the California Legislature recognizes California nonprofits from across the state for their community contributions.

The CCADT is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2011 by Naomi Tobias. Since 2013, CCADT has responded to 38 wildfires, floods, and single/multi-family home fires in the San Joaquin Valley.

“The Central California Animal Disaster Team was instrumental in providing shelter, food and transportation for hundreds, if not thousands, of displaced animals during the Creek Fire in 2020,” said Senator Borgeas. “Thank you to the hardworking team of individuals and volunteers at CCADT for all you do in our community.”

“We are deeply honored to be recognized by Senator Andreas Borgeas as a Nonprofit of the Year,” said Naomi Tobias, Founder and CEO of CCADT. “Since 2011, our volunteers have committed themselves to saving our valley’s animals during times of crisis. Many people consider their pets to be family members and will risk their lives to save them; therefore, saving animals may also save human lives.”

The CCADT serves Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Kings, Tulare and Kern Counties and assists with animal evacuation and shelter-in-place care.

Senator Borgeas represents the 8th Senate District, which encompasses all or portions of Amador, Calaveras, Fresno, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Tuolumne Counties.
