Music on the Green Presents Gail Dreifus and Tarantula & the Turtle Doves

MARIPOSA – The Mariposa County Arts Council is pleased to announce the return of Music on the Green free summer concert series, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m., July 9 through Aug. 28, at the Mariposa County Art Park ( 5013 CA-140, Mariposa CA).

Mariposa’s own, Gail Dreifus will perform on Friday, July 16. Gail has been a mainstay on the local music scene for years playing in many different bands, from her full electric band Meltwater Bridge to duo folk collaborations. She is also known for spearheading the Yosemite songwriting retreat, and a local ukulele ensemble. She is an accomplished singer/songwriter whose original songs can commonly be heard on KRYZ 98.5, Mariposa’s local radio station.

Tarantula and the Turtle Doves

Tarantula and the Turtle Doves will take the art park stage on Saturday, July 17. Comprised of Jared and Kaye Jesperson of the popular local husband and wife folk duo, and local banjo player, singer/songwriter “Tarantula” Andy Roberts also of The Trespassers. This stringband trio features Kaye Jesperson on cello and vocals, Jared Jesperson on guitar, mandolin and vocals, and Tarantula on banjo, guitar and vocals. TTD play original compositions from all three members and a myriad of cover songs. Coming off of a year and a half of woodshedding, TTD is sounding tighter than ever and is in the process of finishing up their first studio album.

A complete schedule of the talent performing throughout this summer season can be found at www.mariposaartscouncil.org. Tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated. All performances begin at 7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Parking is available along 5th Street and the lower 5th St. parking lot for accessible pedestrian path through the Mariposa Creek Parkway entry.
