MOCCASIN FIRE: Final Update

Aug. 27, 2020 – All Fire Advisement’s and Road Closures have been lifted. Please be vigilant while driving in the area as there are still numerous firefighters and other safety employees working in the area.

 

MARIPOSA COUNTY — All Mandatory Evacuation Orders will be lifted Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 8 a.m.

Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 8 a.m., residents will be able to return to their homes and all Mandatory Evacuations Orders in Mariposa County will be lifted and downgraded to Fire Advisements.

All additional Fire Advisement areas remain in effect.

The following roads will remain closed to the general public, however; they will be open to residents with identification.

  • Highway 49 from 120 to Black Creek
  • Priest Coulterville Road, from Highway 120 to J132/Greeley Hill Road

SAFETY MESSAGE: The public is reminded to stay vigilant on current fire conditions. The MOC Fire is still an active incident. Please continue to adhere to road closures and safety advisories. If you see electrical wires on the ground, stay clear and contact PG&E immediately. Please drive slowly and yield to all emergency and safety personnel who will continue to be working in the area for the duration of the incident.

All Mandatory Evacuation and Fire Advisements are still in effect.

Greeley Hill (J132) / Smith Station

Road Conditions: Closed

Hwy 49N from Penon Blanco to Hwy 120

All North intersecting roads on Greeley Hill Road (J132) / Smith Station from Priest Coulterville to the Mariposa / Tuolumne County Line.

Mandatory Evacuation Area: 

Greeley Hill Rd (J132) from Priest Coulterville Rd to Wagner Ridge. This includes all roads North to the Tuolumne County Line. Including:

Wagner Ridge Road and all side roads

Dexter Road and all side roads

Fiske Road and all side roads

Cuneo Road and all side roads

Priest Coulterville Road and all side roads

Ponderosa Way and all side roads

Fire Advisement Area:

This is NOT a Mandatory Evacuation, this is an advisement only of fire in the area, allowing you to prepare for a potential Evacuation Order should conditions change. No action is required at this time, however if you feel unsafe please leave the area.

Hwy 49 North from the Mariposa / Tuolumne County Line to Mary Harrison Mine Rd and all side roads

Coulterville- From 4700 Block of J132 to Priest Coulterville Rd

Greeley Hill- All roads South on Greeley Hill Road (J132) from Priest Coulterville to Smith Station

The Temporary Evacuation Point for Red Cross and Shelter Information is located at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, located at 5007 Fairgrounds Rd.
