MARIPOSA — The Mariposa County Arts Council invites the public to an opening reception for Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water –– an exhibition with painters Hannelore Fischer, and Lorie Setterberg, photographers David Hoffman and Jeannetta Phillips, and maker Tim DeWitt –– on Friday, Nov. 1, from 4:30 – 6 p.m. at the Treetop Gallery, located at 5009 Hwy 140, Mariposa, CA 95338 (upstairs from Chocolate Soup Gift Shop).

Light refreshments will be served.

Through painting, photography and large scale installation, the five featured artists explore each of the four elements. Perhaps our earliest understanding of matter, these elements were the cornerstone of ancient philosophy, science, medicine and spirituality. Deeply embedded into Western thought, the myth of nature’s most powerful quarters continues to be recognized and replicated today.

The ubiquitous presence of the classic elements speaks towards a core question in human experience: What is our relationship to nature, our universe? And . . . what is it made of? Each artist has chosen to create or show work under this theme according to their own interpretation, with original pieces and prints available for viewing and purchase.

This exhibition will run at the Treetop Gallery from Nov. 1, 2019 – Feb. 28, 2020.
