Mamma Mia Sing Along At Yosemite High

OAKHURST — If you have a dream, honey honey, then gimme! gimme! gimme! your attention, and get all your super troupers down to the theater at Yosemite High School on Friday, May 5, as the Theater Arts Department stages a fundraiser in the form of a Mamma Mia Sing Along. It starts at 7 p.m.

The iconic 2008 film will be shown with subtitles, and audience members are invited to sing along with the film. Some of the students from the theater arts department will be in 1970s costumes, encouraging people to sing and dance and enjoy.

“Interaction with films by audience members have been around a long time,” muses YHS Theater Arts teacher Lars Thorson. “As a teenager I remember the fun of Rocky Horror Picture Show. In the 1990s the producers of The Sound of Music started to have sing a longs that went with the film. Now, there are movie theaters that are doing this with new releases such as Beauty and the Beast. We thought it would be fun to try this in the mountain community with Mamma Mia. I think it will be fun for everyone.”

Tickets for this one-night-only event will be $5 and proceeds will help the theater arts department buy new sound and lighting equipment. For information, please call (559) 683-4667. This is family friendly event.

Send out an SOS and make sure your mother knows! She’s a dancing queen.
