Madera County Reporting 94 New Covid Cases, 4 Additional Deaths

MADERA – The Madera County Department of Public Health is reporting 94 new cases bringing the total number of reported cases to 2,208 as of Aug. 5, 2020 at 4 p.m. There are 976 active cases including 33 Madera County residents hospitalized in Madera County leaving 1,196 recovered including 50 more released from isolation.

Two of the 4 additional deaths are reporting no underlying health conditions. Two are males in their 60’s, one female in her 80’s and one female in her 100’s

372 were contracted through person to person with 210 community spread. One was travel-related, and 1,625 are still under investigation.

Area D, which includes the Madera County Mountain Communities, is showing an increase of 7 positive test results bringing the total to 125.

There have been a total of 23,951 tests results with 21,743 testing negative out of a population of 157,327 (2019 US Census Bureau.)
