COARSEGOLD – Do some thrifty shopping this weekend at the Yosemite Lakes Park (YLP) Ladies of the Lakes annual Swap Meet, Saturday, Apr. 27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Swap Meet will be in the parking lot of the YLP Clubhouse on Clubhouse Drive, just off Yosemite Springs Parkway in YLP. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.In addition to having many vendors, the Ladies plan an extensive bake sale, so if you are having trouble finding the location, just follow your nose to the sweet homemade treats.
Ladies of the Lakes is a nonprofit service group based in YLP. The Swap Meet is a fundraiser to benefit their Scholarship Fund: college-bound high school seniors from Minarets and Yosemite High Schools are awarded scholarships each year through the organization. The group has been active for 30 years, according to treasurer Barbara Gonlag, and usually raises about $5,000 per year for scholarships.
“We will have a mix of typical garage sale items plus a few professional vendors, including birdhouses, decorative cactuses and succulents,” says Gonlad, adding that a firm called Northwest Home Improvement will display their wares and services, too.
“Throughout the day we have between 200 to 300 people come by the swap meet,” says Gonlag. “It’s a fun and friendly event and we’re setting up by the lake so it’s a very nice. There’s a café at the golf course that’s open until 2 p.m., so you can make a day of it.”
