Join The Community Choir, Rehearsals Begin This Week

NORTH FORK — Don’t think that just because it’s in North Fork and you’re not, you can’t join the amazing North Fork Community Choir.

We have members from as far away as Fresno and Nipinnawasee who join us every week to raise their voices in celebration of the holiday season, and perform for the community the first Saturday in December.

This will be the 19th year that the North Fork Community Choir has been sharing the songs of the season, and more than 140 singers have participated throughout the years.

Practice CDs are provided for all vocal parts, so don’t hesitate because you fear you don’t read music well enough, or are a bit rusty. There are no auditions, and the main requirement is a love of singing.

Many of you may know me from my coverage of fires and breaking news in our area. But my favorite time of year is when the Choir rehearses, and the synergy of all those voices of various abilities coming together for what is always a moving and inspiring performance.

The choir rehearses every Wednesday evening starting on Sept. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Music Room at the back of Kennedy Hall at the North Fork School. The performance is Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. The only cost is to cover the music.

I have to say that people are always amazed that a choir from this little town is so astonishing good (if I do say so myself!) and everyone is invited to participate.

If you have any questions about joining the choir, please don’t hesitate to call me at 559-877-3030.
