Hike To Sentinel Dome And Taft Point

Submitted by Keith Sauer –

We’re back from three days in Yosemite with the Oakmont Hiking group. Perfect weather and great scenery. We saw some bears on the trail but too far to photograph. One group saw a bobcat.

After a long five-hour drive, I led the hike to Sentinel Dome and Taft Point with the help of a pain pill for my ankle.

Two tiny climbers on the Snake Dike Route on Half Dome, just above the arrow. They have unroped and are going up the long section to the summit. I did that route on my 60th birthday, when friends offered to schlepp up the ropes and climbing gear. We descended by means of the cables on the other side of the dome.
