Free Jazz Concert Features World Class Musicians

OAKHURST — In what promises to be an amazing night of music unlike any other, twenty-four jazz guitarists and eight bass players from across the United States and Canada and as far as from Japan and Austria will be performing on Thursday, June 28.

The very special event will be held at the Queens Inn Wine & Beer Garden, from 7 – 10 p.m. Admission is free. The concert is the grand finale of an annual five-day Yosemite Jazz Guitar and Bass Workshop being held June 24-29, at Evergreen Conference Center in Oakhurst.

This is the 17th jazz workshop hosted by local guitarist Rich Severson and sponsored by his guitar education website, GuitarCollege.com. Severson and his resident artist/bass instructor, Todd Johnson from Phoenix, welcome this year’s guest guitar instructors Pat Kelley from L.A. and Mike Dana Fresno City College’s Jazz Dept Chair. Both guitarists have been Grammy nominees and teach the world over.

Fresno’s leading jazz drummer, Gary Newmark, will join the group to complete the rhythm section. Featured performances will include with the workshop participants and instructors through the evening and will conclude with a jam session with the instructors.
