Firefighters Make Quick Work Of Fire Near Bootjack

MARIPOSA COUNTY – Crews responded to a vegetation fire south of Bootjack this afternoon, just off Oak Grove Road.

At 1:09 p.m., several reports came in to 911 of a column of smoke on Sharp Road, but after some revisions to the exact address by reporting parties, the fire was located in the 3600 block of Ramblin Road. A full wildland dispatch was called out.

The first unit at scene reported a small fire with a moderate rate of spread and no structures threatened.

By 1:30, firefighters had sketched a line around the perimeter and cancelled all resources except two engines. Aircraft overhead were also held until the incident commander was comfortable releasing them.

The forward progress was stopped by 1:33 p.m.

At 1:38 p.m., all aircraft were cancelled and/or released.

The fires was reported as controlled at 1.16 acres at 4:13 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
