Fire Destroys Home In Cascadel Woods Near North Fork

NORTH FORK – Firefighters were dealing with temperatures in the low 20s and a deep blanket of snow last night as they responded to a house fire on Cascadel Lane.

At about 10:30 p.m. on Monday, firefighters were called out to reports of a structure fire in Cascadel Woods just east of North Fork.

A resident of the adjacent community of Cascadel Heights, Kathy Tooms, saw the fire and called 911.

The first engine at scene reported that the two-story home was completely engulfed, and firefighters set about protecting adjacent structures.

Cascadel Fire Brigade members came out to help direct traffic away from the scene and give first responders information on the owners so they could be contacted.

According to neighbors, the owners live out of the area and use the property as a vacation home.

It appeared that no one was home when the fire started, and there were no cars in the driveway.

Sheriff’s deputies and a Red Cross representative were at scene to offer assistance if any was needed.

The home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

  1. Thank you for posting this so soon. A resident, Kathy Tooms of Cascadel Heights saw the fire and called 911. She then called me. I sent the Cascadel Fire Brigade out to assist the Fire Crews to the scene and to turn looky lous around. I manned the phone and was able to give the owner information to the Fire Captain through the Brigade.
