The Lyric Rose Theatre Company, in association with Grass Valley’s Center for the Arts, is very happy to present one of Jason Robert Brown’s finest musicals, The Last Five Years.
This masterpiece, not only has amazingly crafted music, but the storytelling method for this show is like no other. The story explores a five-year relationship between our two characters, Jamie Wellerstein and Cathy Hiatt. We begin the show at the end the relationship and end the show at the beginning of the relationship for the character Cathy, however the opposite is true for Jamie, giving a beautiful contrast in a way like no other musical does.
This production features two recently transplanted local actor/singers, who most recently played principal roles in Lyric Rose’s sold-out, smash hit production of Into the Woods, Carey McCray and David Endacott-Hicks. Who are accompanied by a live trio, consisting of piano, violin and cello, lead by Toby Thomas-Rose. Directing this wonderful production is local director and actor team Judy Merrick and Sky Seals, who help make this treasure of a musical, one of the finest interpretations to date.
