8th Annual Cowboy Christmas Coming to Oakhurst Lutheran Church in December

OAKHURST — Great news for all you cowboys and cowgirls out there — Tim Johnson has put together another great Cowboy Christmas Concert. This year, it’s the cowboy band of Tim Johnson, Keith Johnson, Arnie Johnson, Cliff Neufeld and Eddie Guzman. And if that weren’t enough, they will be joined by special guests Bobby Black and Jimmy Collier.

Tim Johnson played with the Sons of the San Joaquin — Jack, Joe, Lon and Bill Thornbury — as fiddler from 2000 – 2007. Tim received the Western Music Association‘s instrumentalist of the year award in 2007, upon the release of his solo fiddle album, “American Fiddler.”

Bobby Black is a world renowned master of the pedal steel and lap steel guitar who was inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame 2004. He has performed with — to name just a few — Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, Barbara Mandrell, Dolly Parton, Merle Travis, The Coasters, Mel Carter, and many, many more.

Jimmy Collier was known for his folk-rock music and performed with artists such as Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Pete Seeger and Joan Baez. However, the turbulent 1960s affected Collier, and his style began to shift into more of a folk-rock demeanor. As Dr. Martin Luther King traveled the country Collier was often asked to sing to the crowds before Dr. King’s appearance. Tim also has a new Christmas album coming out soon. The new album will soon be available for purchase.

There will be a maximum seating of 140 for each performance with pre-sold tickets for the Cowboy Christmas, at a suggested $20 donation.

There will be two performances on Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The 2 p.m. performance sells out quickly.

For information call Oakhurst Lutheran Church at 559-683-4673.
