Derby races, live music, great food and local vendors will make the Old Mill Site a perfect location for an Earth Day outing with friends and neighbors in North Fork.

Mattress Recycling

The North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians, together with ByeByeMattress.com, is hosting a community-wide free mattress recycling collection as part of the Earth Day event.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, they’ll accept a mattress drop-off limit of four units per truckload with a  maximum of 30 units total. Deliver mattresses for recycling to 57907 Old Mill Site Ct., North Fork, CA 93643.

Tire and E-Waste Recycling

CalRecycle is funding a Waste Tire and E-Waste event on Saturday, giving Madera County residents an opportunity to get rid of tires, products with plugs, and more. A list of what’s accepted and not accepted appears below.

Waste Tire Amnesty and E-Waste Days offer residents a no-cost opportunity to dispose of any tires and electronics collected around the household. This event also allows the County to receive old tires and electronics, and haul them away to recycling centers. Tire Amnesty Day also provides neighborhoods with educational information on the benefits of disposing these items properly.

It’s required that residents make a reservation for this free service, and no out-of-county tires or electronics are allowed to be collected: proof of residency in Madera County is required.

When your reservation is confirmed, details will be given. To make a reservation, call Madera County Code Enforcement at (559) 675-7821. You’ll be directed to the person in charge of Code Enforcement and you may need to leave a message.

The limit is nine tires without rims. Restrictions include: no tractor/diesel tires or larger will be accepted.
