Dream It, Be It Conference

Oakhurst – It’s that time of year again for the popular Dream It – Be It Conference for girls 8th through 12th grade that live in the mountain area. This will be Soroptimist International of the Sierras 7th year in making the program available to girls who live in Oakhurst, Coarsegold, North Fork, and Ahwahnee. The event is free and will be held from 8AM to 3PM on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022 at the Oakhurst Community Center. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge for those attending.

After registration and breakfast, the girls will split up into table groups with an adult facilitator.  The program includes fun activities and ways to win great prizes, but also covers important topics such as learning to set achievable goals, matching personal values to career types, and overcoming obstacles to success.  We have several amazing keynote speakers to cover these topics, as well as professionals from various careers available as mentors during our lunch-time career fair.  Each girl will go home with a workbook, which will include a personal plan for achieving their goals, a goodie bag full of great gifts, and hopefully some great memories!  And, applications will be available at the conference for senior high school girls who attend to be considered for a $500 scholarship.

There will be a videographer taping the conference and an event photographer so media release permission slips will need to be filled out for each girl as well as signed permission slips to attend. Girls can sign up at www.DreamItBeItGirls.com and since it’s only a month away, we suggest filling out the form ASAP.

For questions, please contact Soroptimist president, Michele Shockley, at (559) 658-1803.
