COVID-19 Forcing County to Modify Some Essential Services

MADERA — Prompted by concerns about the spread of COVID-19, the Madera County Community and Economic Development Department has began to implement changes to its menu of services.

“At this time Planning and Building/Fire Safety is evaluating essential services to determine appropriate staffing and we are considering implementing an appointment-only protocol,” said a post on the County’s Facebook page. “For meetings with the customers, consultants, etc, we are considering telephone or video conferencing. Our division is no longer signing off on event permits until further notice.”

“Any events that were previously approved, we are sending out the recommendations from the health department and advising against gatherings,” the post also stated. “Additionally, our public meetings such as Planning Commission and Development Review meetings with attendance of more than 10 will be conducted either by phone or postponed.”

For further information about departmental changes, call the Community and Economic Development Department at (559)675-7821.
