Central Sierra Foothills Wind Advisory in Effect From 10pm Saturday to 10am Sunday

NORTH FORK – The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Central Sierra Foothills, including the cities of Coarsegold, Oakhurst, Squaw Valley, Auberry, North Fork, Mariposa, Devils Postpile, Florence Lake, Lake Thomas Edison, Tuolumne Meadows, Bass Lake, Fish Camp, Wawona, Lake Wishon, Huntington Lake, Shaver Lake and Lodgepole.

Expect northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts around 45 mph. Local wind gusts near 60 mph possible over the Sierra crest and higher ridges.

Forecasted to take effect around 10pm Saturday February 27 and ending at 10am on Sunday February 28th, 2021.

Gusty winds can blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs will be blown down and power outages may result. Dead or damaged trees may be toppled.

Avoid being outside in forested areas as damaging wind gusts could blow down trees and block roadways. Stay clear of power lines.
