Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested Saturday in Modesto

MODESTO — A Mariposa County man wanted for attempted murder following a shooting Friday in Greeley Hill was apprehended by Modesto police officers Saturday.

Jeron Daniel Roberts, 41, was taken into custody without incident in the Walmart parking lot on McHenry Avenue in Modesto about 11:45 a.m., according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

Roberts was involved in a fight in the Greeley Hill area on Friday afternoon.

During the altercation, Roberts allegedly shot the victim and then fled the scene in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee.

Currently on active CDC parole, Roberts reportedly suffers from mental illness and has gang ties.

The victim, who has yet to be identified, was airlifted to a Valley hospital; his condition is unknown at this time.
